Thanks for the resources!

I was also inspired by this one over at Burton and District Wargamers, they did the entire battle of Sekigahara at a much smaller scale (6mm I think?). Really great stuff, and a good list of the contenders in the conflict.

The latter game was 15mm. You get a better appreciation of scale in the photos featuring stands being lifted up. Plus I recognise the wooden palisades models. An impressive looking game. Thank you for posting the link.

Earlier this month I was able to finish up a few blocks of infantry from the Ishida Clan:

I am hoping to build this project with enough flexibility to do multiple unit configurations (24 man units, 20 man units, or even horde sizes):

Tiny unit of Ukita Clan ashigaru, one of the blocks is magnetized:

I also had fun putting the musicians together with extra cast bodies:

My first five Samurai cavalry were also fun to paint up; it gave me a chance to experiment with a few different armor colors.

From left to right: Ishida, Konishi, Ishida, Ukita, and Shimazu; all Western Army.

With their grunt counterparts:

A few more pics of my fledgling Test of Honour warbands, all magnetized to their bases of course.  :)

Ukita Clan

Ii Clan

Samurai

Ashigaru sergeants facing off against each other

My wife and I played two quick games the other day! It was good, but we need to re-read the rules.

She was the red samurai...

...and she beat me at both games!  :o

While the flat terrain in the boxed set works just fine, I am thinking of making some of my own. Anyone know of some cherry-blossom colored materials that I could use to make cherry trees? Ordering from the states?

Here are a couple of articles I did some years ago about cheap cherry-blossom trees, if they're helpful to you:

Got this off Wikipeda:

Looks like two crossed long-leafs. I have seen this clan before in color, couldn't find a picture. The mon itself was yellow and the background was red. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the links! I have actually found both of these before thanks to the power of google. I am hoping to use a similar method.

It is a fun game! Haven't played much recently... need to get on that and play a few more games soon.

Ishida Clan Ashigaru, wielding Arquebusiers:

Here was the state of my samurai army as of early October.

I have completed a few more Ukita Clan ashigaru since then, and I have a few more Ii Clan in the works!

Looking in my reference book “Japanese Heraldry and Heraldic Flags” these would be feathers.
