GNW with Pikeman's Lament
« on: September 16, 2018, 07:27:20 AM »
My gaming group tried out Pikeman's Lament with our Great Northern War armies last night.  Short game write up on my blog here:

Not many photos, but here's a sampler:

Well done with PL.
We have enjoyed the rules for ECW.

With great joy I read your report, It is very nice to see one more PL game played with GNW armies!
Some months before I had posted here two similar games, we enjoyed much!
Veery interesting! You created a Gå På Foot profile and GNW or WSS Dragoon type as well!
I shall have it in mind to try it in a next GNW PL game!
You made a number of valuable aftermath assessments, but from your narration the most important I think is this:
It was a valuable lesson that Horse has no business chasing anyone into forests or fortifications.  ;)

Eager to see in a next game of yours how the Brigade Orders will work!

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments!  I've just updated that blog post with four more photos.

Din - the dragoon profile seems pretty good (mostly as it was lifted unchanged from Lion Rampant), but we will be modifying the Gå På Foot profile.  For the brigade orders, they will likely be limited to helping the units move together but only until they make contact with the enemy.  Shooting & attacking will be by individual unit only.  It will be at least a month before we get another chance to try again, so you may need to be patient!  (or just work on your own variant  ;) )
