A small church - Painting complete and base added - Page 3
« on: September 18, 2018, 03:46:47 PM »
Got a little church to do for Dave Imrie. Preference was for bare stone and of course there are still a few details to do before painting. There will also be a little bell tower on the roof.

Base coat is on and I've started on the little bell tower for the roof.

That’s very nice

What are the sheets you’re using for the walls?
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2024 = 0
(2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Very nice. I like your solution for the corners. I was using milliput, but yours is much neater. I will give it a go.

(The sheet for the walls, afaict, Slaters Plastikard Dressed Stone 7mm Scale.)

Thank chaps  :)

Monkeylite, it's the 7mm Cotswold Stone Walling 7mm as it's a bit more random than the dressed stone  :)

All the painting and details are done. Will be basing it next and also making a separate graveyard.

Well that was quick!

What colours do you use for your stonework? Putting the extra weathering touches aside, it is just layers of grey drybrushed up, or am I missing something else? When I've painted stone walls before they come out a bit too blue-grey, and I'd prefer to get this sort of tone next time when I paint some more substantial buildings.

Cheers fellas  :)

Basic grey base coat then a few speckles of browns, dark and light greys. A wash of brown ink then a drybrush of lighter than base coat grey.
