A couple of years ago I started a Chaos Epic project with a bunch of normal Space Marines and vehicles which I planned to make more chaotic! Most of my 40K knowledge is from Rogue Trader days where Traitor marines were just painted differently so I decided to added some extra parts to make them more chaotic.

This post is a bit backwards as I'm posting the finished army followed by WIP pictures. I posted some of the WIP on other forums but not here  so this is a catchup and I will post more soon. :(

Finished stuff

Heres a couple of finished models

Whirlwinds

Deathwheel

The first part of the finished army  on my website now here http://6mm.wargaming.info/page106.shtml

WIP section

Rhino conversions

I added spikes and skulls etc to the rhinos after going through all my spare WHFB and 40K spare parts.

Landraider
For these I added lots of spikes and skulls. Also I replaced some of the weapon sponsons with 28mm fantasy arms.

For this first batch of landraiders and I went for a mixed colour scheme. The Thousand Sons had red armour before they broke away and blues afterwards so I went with a red and blue combo on these vehicles with gold highlights. I wanted them to be very colourful (as thats what Epic is to me). They were painted with a few layers and then washed.

Rhinos
I used the same scheme as the landraider and painted the big skull gold. I will use different colour combos for the my vehicles as they are chaos and not as uniform as the loyal marine chapters.

Thanks

Very nice indeed. Will daemons be forthcoming?

The rest of my forces are cultists Space marines, disc riders and a few other bits. The force is a combination of traitor marines and a demon lead force.

Hi all

A bit of threadomancy here as I revive this topic for my second Epic army. I've been slowing working through my 6mm Epic Imperial Guard project and I have posted the first update on my blog. The vehicles are a mix of 3D printed and Vanguard miniatures models (stunning models!)

Hopefully I will have more to post soon as I'm working on the infantry and another batch of vehicles.

Centurion Tank

Chimera APCs

Shadowsword proxies

Thunderers

The link is to my blog is here and you can see more pictures and details there.

Nice work, even if its been a bit of a gap since the previous army!

I do like the Vanguard models, lots of nice crisp detail. I like the look of your paint scheme, evokes WWI British tanks (which I guess is the look the models go for too)

The Thunderer are 3D prints. I had 8 weeks off work which an injury so I had to keep myself busy.  :)

Evil Dave, I just saw your thread, amazing work! I think I will go back and pick out some of the details as its a step i forgot.

Let the threadomancy continue! (Actually I forgot I had even started this thread)  :o

I finished a large batch of Imperial Guard Epic models. In this batch there is a mix 3D printed and old Epic conversions and a Vanguard Leviathan. All the 3D prints were free models off Thingverse, which I printed using a 0.2mm nozzle and a cheap printer.

So from L to R, there is a Leviathan, Shadowsword, Bombard, Griffons. In the first 2 rows are Predators, 2 Command Rhinos and a lonely Chimera.

I converted a couple of Epic Rhinos to make them command version, but they never made it into my chaos army, so they joined the Imperial Guard instead (not that its “Historically accurate” but nevermind).

And I have the rest of the army lined up to paint over the next couple of months

IG used to have Rhino transports in SM/TL, it's plenty historically accurate. You tell those 40k button-counters to shove it.

I'm digging the camo. Is tat german black grey and some kind of desert yellow?

Thanks the colour scheme is based on the Steel Legion in 40K

The base colour is Gunze - H071 Aqueous Sem Gloss Middle Stone (Cream added for highlights) and the grey is Tamiya Dark Sea grey

Even more threadomancy! over a year later I finished my second batch of 42 vehicles.

The models are all 3D prints, except the speeder bikes (Landspeeder proxies) which are from Vanguard.

The back row is Speeder bikes, Shadowswords and Gorgon assault Transports. The second to back row is Deathstrike launchers and Leman Russ Tanks, the middle row is Basilisks and more Leman Russ Tanks. The second row is more Basilisks and Predators. In the front is a couple of Thunderbolt fighters, 2 Bombard Siege mortars (very effective!) and 3 Chimeras.

They are looking great!

Even if progress is a bit stop start, its great to see your Epic stuff progressing.

Haven’t played Epic in ages, I can feel my teenie tiny armies calling out to me!
