Building My Library
« on: October 08, 2018, 04:35:26 AM »
Pulp interiors usually need library shelves. Here is my painted up Mantic Terrain Crate library.  This is a nice set. However, be aware that using spray paint to undercoat it may lead to stickiness. I washed it thoroughly first but didn't think about the undercoating. So far multiple paint coats and ink washes have eliminated it but I am afraid that it might bleed through in time. I didn't paint up one of the desks or the stacks of books on the floor.

Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

They're pretty nice. Good to know about the spray undercoating.

your library looks great.

Having got a bunch of this stuff and thinking about getting around to spraying it later in the week... I think I'll do it the old fashioned way.. cheers

I didn't realise the Dogsmeat General could read.

Excellent looking library, is this a similar plastic to Reaper Bones? I spray undercoated some of them and very sticky they became. Ok now though.

I've been looking at their stuff online and been contemplating getting some. Great to see some painted up. Lovely job.

Great looking terrain. This range is now on my radar.

Thanks for the tip about stickiness too.

My tip for all PVC miniatures is to only use acrylic paints on them, an airbrush is excellent for primer and varnish. So no spray primers, no spray varnish, no lacquers. There are a LOT of our tools that lead to glossy and sticky miniatures. So yeah, PVC is really a sucky material. But then again, it's cheap...

John,
If this was the Dog Meat General's library every book would be a hollow book containing a gun or a bottle of hooch. However, this is a portion of Fu Manchu's International Celestial Empire library that is currently on loan to a local branch of the Cult of Dagon. It gets around ;)
