Lobotomy - everything painted up 2018-11-21!
« on: October 09, 2018, 06:36:52 PM »
Did not know where to place this thread, but the nightmarish hallucinations and mental hospital theme felt more Lovecraft than a "Gothic horror" setting to me.

Anyway, I have begun painting up the entire set of mininatures for Lobotomy the board game. This will be the first board game where I paint both the heroes and all the monsters as the minis are really nice.

Lots of monsters coming up next :-D

More pictures of all the playable characters can be seen over at my blog:

I rather like those.   :)

Good bold painting style really seems to make them "pop".

(Personally I don't like the transparent bases though I can see the appeal for board games.)

Got off a good start painting the menatal patients, the most numerous basic monster type, for Lobotomy yesterday, finishing a batch of 4. The models are much better suited to this painting style than the nurses I painted previsouly, I will share pictures once I paint up the next 4.

In the meantime I posted some pictures of the Body Snatcher and Orderlies over at my blog:

All the mental patients for Lobotomy painted up, which makes it a downhill struggle with the rest of the collection as the most numerous monster type is finished. I also painted up 1/3 or the Scavengers which are the last basic monster type that need paint before I can resume playing games again.

After the Scavengers there will only be scenario related monsters and bosses left, which should be a lot of fun to paint since most of them are really nice miniatures.

Adding a painted "Big Mama", the cannibalistic hag that is used for several scenarios as a mini-boss along with the "Little girls" that are inspired by the creepy girl from the Ring. The Little girls too are used for a few scenarios and are a special monster. Great minis to paint, and pretty creepy to. Had fun painting them.

Next up will the miniature duo for the "anti-Christ".

I also took a few pictures of the setup for tomorrows game :-)

Also, earlier this week I finished painting the Scavangers:

Excellent!!  It would be nice if these figures, and others that are 'board game pieces' were available separate from the game.  There are some nice figures out there but not nice enough to invest in the full game.

Thanks guys, I took a break from the painting as I awaited additional models and I wanted to undercoat the remaining minis at the same time, but will start painting again later this week.

In the meantime I had to solve a problem with the abundance of tokens that track various status and cool-downs for the game. It had been a pain in the butt from the beginning, but the game is fun so I did not care at first. But in the end I had to do something to get peace of mind.

The solution was to use magnes along with the tokens and laminate the character cards. More pictures of the very satisfying result can be seen on my blog.

Came up with a satisfying solution for Lobotomy: the board game in regard to the annoying problem of dozens of loose tokens to track wounds, cool-downs etc on character cards, items and powers. Posted a small guide in my blog. I think this idea can prove useful and work with other games as well. Thankfully, most games to not require these type of solutions...

I also wrote a rant regarding the Swedish mail service which is a disaster.

Did not paint much the last 2 weeks, but finished the Freddy Krueger "Slashers" and the Vampires this weekend.
Great minis, the vampire strippers sculpts are obviously inspired by Salma Hayeks character in From Dush till Dawn.
