WAB Raiding Season campaign. Bassa's Ford
« on: October 12, 2018, 06:53:04 AM »
Chum Steve and I have embarked on a WAB Age of Arthur campaign.
He's hairy Saxons, I'm proud Romans.
Last night was the first game with Saxons attempting to force the ford and cross into Roman territory.

Great looking miniatures. I've always wanted to try out Age of Arthur. In my opinion its the best of the WAB supplements, especially for former Warhammer players.

Cheers

It's a great supplement. Works better with WAB 1 (and 1.5) than WAB 2, though I've had good games with both.
Well balanced armies each with enough flavour without any obvious "broken" or overpowered units.

Gave up on WAB years ago, but just started playing the same campaign with Dux Bellorum, a far superior game.

I'm a big fan of Dux Bell too.
I'm not sure I'd say its superior, it certainly has it's own flaws.None of which I mind, but some others find impossible to reconcile.

I think DB for the authentic clash of Dark Age fighting lines  WAB for the heroic tales for Sagas.

This particular period and setting has always appealed, so I shall be over to your blog in a while for a nose.
Put the kettle on.

A very fun read!  Thanks for sharing!

I am also a fan of Dux Bellorum but never got to try Age of Arthur.
