Game #3: Bulldogs on Bromely Common

Prussian Forces

One Heavy steam tank.
One captured Fenian steam floating tank.
Two Light steam tanks.
Two Tesla cannon.
Augusta Yoyodyne, a Prussian spark commanding three explosive repair dingbots.

English Forces

One Heavy steam tank.
Two Light steam tanks.
One Fenian steam floating tank.
Two Sgt Harper class gun tractors.

The Situation

If the Prussian were to make a successful run into London they needed to break through the British inner defenses. Attacking on three fronts the Prussians hoped to punch hard and fast at the British defenses with tanks and self propelled artillery and make a hole through which the Prussian infantry could then pour into the area around London.

One of those thrusts took place on Bromely Common, a long open stretch of land running alongside a country lane. The Prussian objective was to get across the common, destroying any British resistance and losing as few of their own vehicles as possible.

Unfortunately for the Prussians, the British had chosen a force almost equal to their own to defend the common. It was to be a hard, bloody fight as the two armored columns met on a field of green. It was to be the Prussians Agincourt.

The British Heavy tank takes the long look down the road hoping to bowl the oncoming Prussians a googlie.

The two Sgt Harper class gun tractors wait behind the cover of a fieldstone wall.

The rest of the British column waits for the order to move out against the hun.

At the opposite end of the road the captured Fenian tank and two Tesla guns arrive. The Prussians weren't quite as adept as they thought they would be at handling the captured contraption. It spent several precious minutes during the beginning of the battle just trying to maneuver down the road without stalling.

In an attempt to block the British advance the tesla gun commander manages to shoot at and knock down a large tree at the cross roads, hampering the British in their efforts to advance.

The Prussian tanks advance across the common supported by the Tesla guns.

One of the Prussian Light tanks is knocked out by British fire while the heavy tank breaks through the wall. Augusta Yoyodyne, a gifted engineer arrives along with her retinue of personal robots. She gets to work trying to restore some life into the Fenian tank that has been prone to several breakdowns as well as being the target of heavy British fire.

The Heavy tank is momentarily delayed by some difficulty encountered when knocking down the wall and will spend several minutes stuck in one spot. Meanwhile several of the British tanks are moving down the road intent upon some close range fire against the Prussians.

The British tank rams the captured Fenian tank in an attempt to silence its Tesla gun. Augusta loses all hope of getting the tank to run again and focuses her attentions on the British tanks, sending her dinbots in with orders to explode on contact with the British tank. She manages to knock out the British Heavy and cause serious damage to the Light Tank behind it. The Prussian Heavy loses all motive power and can make no further headway. At this point the Prussian position becomes untenable and the British declare it a victory for the Home forces.

Man, I really wish I would have been able to find you guys back in 1996 when I lived in Sacramento - it may have made the place bearable.

Oh dear!

I am sitting on front of my computer screen watching the last reports and thinking:
What amazing stories, packed with lovely miniatures, awesome vehicles, interesting vessels, awesome mechanical wonders, automatons, balloons and zeppelins, ether flying objects and lots more superb devices.

Bravo gentlemen and ladies (!) continue your good jobs!
Thanks for sharing your talents with us.

[Now I am thinking: What I have to oppose those tesla guns?
A couple of pedal driven artillery ....]

Splendid! Truly splendid. Pictures that bring delight to what had been a rather bothersome morning.

How about a picture of your (not) girl genius Augusta Yoyodyne and her dingbots. I really must get around to finishing my British version  ;)
