Little test for a future army and a little Facebook group session... the figure is one of the 20mm Fallschirmjäger from the Battlefield Miniatures 'Ramcke' packs which make for great Italian Front troops.

Looking back over your thread and I was wondering what you use to base your guns and prone figures on?

I just use plasticard cut to shape or Renendra bases.

I’ve got tonnes of Renedra bases.  I like the look of the thicker base height. I use pennies for 20mm so that would be more consistent in base height.

The pin wash really makes the details pop for the shadows.

Technical questions:

What do you use for pin washes and the applicator used?  (They are very precise.)

Do you seal the paint first with a matte varnish?

I use either thin acrylic paint, enamel wash, or on these a mix of GW contrast paint and thinner. Each has different positives and negatives, so it's a choice you make. All application is by brush.

I usually seal before weathering with either satin or matt varnish.

Thank you!  I have tried the Tamiya panel line washes, nuln oil, very fine tip markers, etc but your recommendation of GW Contrast Paints is one I’ve never tried (yet!).

I agree wholeheartedly about each having positives and negatives.
