I've created a monster.(so he's had too).
« on: October 16, 2018, 01:12:47 PM »
My Son play's a weekly game of D&D .Which is fun For him
But a forty mile round trip for a Dad taxi ::).
He's always on a figure raid." What do WE have that I can use" or " Daaaad can you just make me a..."
So this time round . I said No. (Bit of a culture shock.but he survived.)But I will show you how to make your own

My involvement was providing a list of parts he'd need to make. Showing him how to make the part and then to his horror unmaking the part.(otherwise it'd be just me sculpting with an audience).
The really difficult part of pretending not to be watching and resisting the urge to take over .As he went all round the house's just to get across the road.
If I had of ,then where would be his sense of achievement ?
So here it is two tone highlights straight onto green clay ,and a dip into a tub of Game color dipping formula.

( I'll varnish it tonight when he's not looking . No Dad no foul ;))

Mark.

I think it's beautiful … but then you know what they say about beauty ...

Bloody good job even by regular standards, never mind for a new fella!

That's great. What parts were used?

I sculpted mine from greenstuff on a wooden bead with some brass wire.

 lol
Cubs there can't be a nerdier joke .( I'd have put money on you or 'Blood' cracking it).

It's made from just green stuff. To keep it simple its a straight off thr strip mix.
About three hours of actually sculpting and two days of curing, one for each stage of clay work plus they're school days. painting around twenty minutes.
(It felt a lot longer).
Beefcake.
Its a simple build . its just a case of breaking it down into stages and parts. 80% is just rolling out ball shapes and skinny sausages of clay.
I can talk you through one if you want.

I'm more worried about what he'll want to sculpt next.

That totally made my day lol

Couldn't agree more!

In the end, sculpting and drawing are always about breaking down shapes into smaller, basic shapes and then texturing and blending them in (in both digital and physical mediums). So this might well be just the start of an entire escalating range of miniatures... ;)

Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Seriously, that thing looks professional enough to be sold. That includes the paint job!
