Dry Ground Cover At The Base Of Bamboo Forests?
« on: December 24, 2020, 11:57:30 PM »
What do you guys use to represent the grayish-tan leafy cover that one normally sees at the foot of bamboo groves?

Would you recommend dried oregano or some such herb?

Thanks

Dan
PS.  Oregano (not as dry as the one I have):

Oregano is fine but I prefer Mixed Herbs as it will not be just Bamboo litter. It tends to bind other garden litter in with it. I know as I have just dug out 2 massive Bamboo plants (infestations after the initial planting). I have been told they are in effect a weed and they have demolished a fence section. Roots were 2 foot deep, needed a Bobcat and an excavator to remove them.
Cheers,

Thanks.  I personally dislike bamboo for that very same reason.  You can’t get rid of it once you put it on the ground.  And your neighbors will hate you for a lifetime.

I’m also looking through my other herbs.  I found dry dill weed also.  Very fine.  About 2 or 3mm long.

Dan
PS.  Dill weed (the pieces in my spice bottle are drier and much smaller than this.  Minuscule in fact):

PPS.  Another attempt to get suggestions:

Just found this:

So clearly I’m not the first person to think that oregano might be a key ingredient.

A little too green for me...I tend to think of it as dried leaves so I just use leaf littler (silver birch seeds)

I used mixed herbs on the base of my catachan army years ago - it looks good be sure to seal it properly with PVA/varnish since it will flake off very fast otherwise.
