Clearco's Prehistoric Things
« on: October 19, 2018, 03:28:49 PM »
Hi!
I got my copy of Palaeo Diet and its first expansions several months ago and I'm eager to play. Unfortunately, I didn't have any suitable miniatures on my collection and my hobby-budget is very low these times so I was struggling with the idea of doing my own miniatures, then thinking about using paper-models, then again thinking about doing very simple and tiny cartoonesque minis...so it went on and on inside of my head for months...until today! Today I decided to sculpt a mammoth in 15mm scale and it went way smoother as I had thought! So it's on  :D The good thing about this scale is that I'm way faster and that I can sculpt lots of huge beasts :) :)

While I was sculpting it I remember some 15mm tribesmen I had secretely sculpted last summer for a Darkest Africa setting and thought about converting some of them to be cavemen. So I can now very easily have figures aswell ;)

Enough talk! Here are some pictures. The mammoth is still wip, I still have to make more details and ad the fur but the 80% is done :) The naked and bald tribesmen are for size reference and will serve as a base for further converting (lots of furs and hair  ;D )

This is my first (almost) finished animal, besides some horses in 28mm I'm working on  ;)

If we have him with us, on the PALEO DIET side , we'll be happy wargamers then ....

Thanks Nic! I must say, I was totally inspired by your rules, I like them a lot  ;)

So, I have been slowly adding fur to the creature:

I wanted to sculpt some wolly rhinos aswell but now I only want to work on some rather bald animals after so much fur...  lol

Here is a size comparison with one of my 15mm sculpts:

That really is very well done. I love the tilt of his head as he's coming at you! You might think about making these available to others. Keep up the great work!

Thank you a lot for the nice comments guys! :-)

I'd like to see the little beast produced but I'd need at least ca. 25 people interested in having one so I don't know if that's possible right now...I'll keep sculpting some animals and hope to arouse some interest so they can be produced :)

Anyway, I have finished the sculpt! At the end I have have hated sculpting so much fur  o_o

There are some spots I'd like to rework and the tusks are only provisional attached but you get the idea  ;)
