Need Lost Colossus scenery inspiration
« on: October 26, 2018, 12:04:53 PM »
Recently picked up Gods of War for Ghost Archipelago. Flicking through it made me realise that I'd never played the Lost Colossus scenarios. So dug out my copy of Lost Colossus (LC) and started flicking through the pages. Then it dawned on me as to why I'd never played it - it was the scenery requirements for the scenarios.

Various scenarios require parts of the Colossus. Scenarios 2 & 8 requires the ruins of a giant hand, scenarios 3 & 5 requires a leg (to use as a bridge in 3), scenario 6 requires an eye, scenario 7 requires toes, scenario 9 requires the face of the Colossus.

Has anyone created specific scenery for LC? If you haven't, what have you used as proxies instead? Toes and an eye could be replaced by anything stone looking, but what about a hand or leg? Did anyone raid their local hospital for old plaster casts?

I tried making a hand out of foam, worked ok but a rock for the first one would suffice , the second hand just needed to be an elevated platform about your hand size and 10" off the playing surface, just add some standing stones for the fingers, and 3 walkways going up to the hand ( 1 arm and a couple of trees ).
We used a cardboard tube from a carpet shop for the legs (4" in diameter roughly and 14" long) one cut in half longitudinally.
A glass pebble painted on the back for the eye.
the face we bought the same fishtank face as was in the book but something carved out of foam will do, but there is plenty of masks available at the moment.
toes were the same standing stones as the fingers.
Its nice to make exactly what the book says ,but in the end if you just want to play the scenario something close works just as well .

I've seen old mannequins at "junk" stores which is another option for getting them all at once.

Here's mine scenery. Most of it custom made for the campaign but with future use in mind:

Scenario 1: the plinth:

PS: before I continue, can someone confirm me you can see the picture?

I can't see a pic in on the page - there's a linked file - but it's some kind of 'stream' file rather than obviously an image file, and I doubt you'll get people to open it out of caution.

that's what I'm seeing here anyway.

Right, another attempt:

Scenario one: the plinth

we've since added more foliage to our tables ;)

The leg was used by gluing pieces of pink foam together, a quick cut into a leg shape, some texture and a drybrush. very quick job and good for two scenarios.

the precipice is made from pink foam cut in modulare pieces. On top is a hand from/
the same pieces were used for the torso. I could have ued them for the plinth as well and you could also use them for the head. So with little effort you could make scneru for at least four scenarios.
We play a three player campaign and played the precipice on a 4 by 4 table which was to big.

The second picture shows  a the modular rocks a bit closer and is from the bridge of tears scenario

found two more pictures; the setup for the scenario with the torso and dwarves sailing off with a bunch of treasure in their boat
