Which IP would you like to see...
« on: October 28, 2018, 07:17:51 PM »
... brought to the tabletop?

These days, it feels to me that quite a few "tropes" are used and reused again and again. Not necesarrily a bad thing as Zombies, Pulp Nazi's, Cthulhu and Conan are quite cool and lovely and it's great they can be put (in different incarnations/sizes/styles in some cases) on the table for a game or two.

But there are many other IP's that are up for mining/inspiration or even direct use...

So, let's imagine you could magically bring a game to the tabletop based on a not (yet) used or rather unknown IP, which one would you like to see in miniature form?

I for one would love a 28mm-ish skirmish system (small warbands, cool scenery and vehices and...) based on the Fading Suns RPG, a space opera setting which seems to combine elements from Dune, Warhammer 40.000, Serenity and much much more to create a great cocktail that would cost me a lot of money if it would ever see the light of day and done correctly... :-)

Any takers? What's your missing treasure?

A range for Space 1888. I know there is one out there, but it is old and difficult to get. I can imagine what talented sculptors like Paul Hicks could do with a range of Victorian sci-fi colonials.

My first 15mm models were painted as Decados troops but painting a little mantises on their cloaks was a pain  :)

Fading suns is something I plan to do as sci fi skirmish in 28 since forever - slowly gathering miniatures.

For me Gene Wolfe's books of the new sun would be an unusual game to say the least

Also the Night Warrior series by Graeme Masterson, fighting battles against demons in other peoples dreams!

And finally proper Starship troopers/Forever war

Thundarr the Barbarian in 28mm, w Copplestone as sculptor
Escape from New York in 20mm, w/ Tre Manor
Conan the Barbarian and Glorantha Runequest, Soderquist sculpts, with me as the only and final art director!! :)

And I'd buy the Fistful of Kung Fu line and the old China Town line and mix/mash/rehash with lots of Big Trouble in Little China...

The entire “Jonny Quest” original cartoon series figures, both heroes and multitudinous bad guys, in 28mm.
Enjoying the game is ALWAYS more important than winning the game.

The complete UFO range, from the Gerry Anderson TV show, done by the Perry Brothers, in two scales - 28mm for smaller skirmishes, and 15mm/18mm for larger battles.

All the SHADO personnel in the show, multipose aliens, groupies, equipment, etc., etc..

I'd like to see someone bring back the Halo IP to the tabletop.

Fading suns miniatures sound like a great idea!
It would be nice to see Mass Effect and Dishonored IP made as miniatures games too.

I'm with you Mako, I would love to have that in 28mm, string-vests and all!   :)

Thirded completely and fully; it's my all-time favourite SciFi series... 8)

Other IP's I'd love to bring to the tabletop, are:

- Deus Ex: Human Revolution and/or Mankind Divided, in 28mm
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (but I actually believe that's being arranged at this very moment), in 28mm
- Space: Above and Beyond, in 28mm
- Transformers G1 (with alternate models for each transformation mode: some have multiple, and some combine), in 10 or 15mm
- Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen, and then specifically the armies as depicted in Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gates, in 28mm
- Indiana Jones, as a narrative driven skirmish game, in 28mm
- Diablo 1 & 2, as a dungeoncrawler with campaigns, in 28mm

And oh; there's so much more of course... ::)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

I'd love to see a game based on the Harry Turtledove World War books. Not sure how it would play out though - aliens invade Earth during WW2. The aliens' military tech is roughly equivalent to our late 20th/early 21st century tech.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

I don’t know anything about it really apart from the images but Hellas sun and stone could make a good 28mm skirmish game . ??
