Sand of the Sudan
« on: October 30, 2018, 09:07:08 PM »
The twelve foot long table that was to be any brave lads graveyard

One of my brave hunkered down commands!

My other command - The Camel Corps along with Matt's Egyptian Cavalry.

First turn, the camel corps strolled through some brush got ambush then got hammered. I can see why I got more than one command

The Infantry sorting themselves in very nice lines.

Some Bazooks ambushing Daves lancers

Some Camelry appear to cut off the infantry

Straighten those ranks boys

More Mahdist mounted troops coming from the Northern end of the battlefield

Another ambush for Dave's lancers to ride down

Meanwhile the Egyptian Cavalry charge some massed mahdist foot

Some Fuzzy Wuzzies (Beja) attack the rear of our troops

Andy Skirmishers shooting at long range

The Camel "corps" errrr Platoon see a threat in the rear and advance to engage

Meanwhile, at my Egyptian Zariba compound, the Mahdist foot charge and get bounced by my fine lads!

Matt's Egyptian Cavalry keeping the massed foot in check.

My 2nd Battalion move out in support of Dave's Lancers

the massed foot, reform and charge again

The British Infantry have cleared the middle ground of mounted threats

More Mahdist attacking from the rear.

Dave's Lancers last stand!

Even the village are sending Fuzzy Wuzzies.

My 2nd Battalion, not only hold but bounce the Mahdist Cavalry and Camelry

Orf they rout!

The British start to form column and move swiftly on the village!

A really fun game, that kept you thinking all the time.
If it isn't enjoyable, it isn't gaming!

Great game and some wonderfully painted figures.  Is that a pre-painted mat (or two)?

Figures are all from Martin's collection and the cloths are from Tiny wargames

Beautiful game.

Thanks for sharing.

I have already started my own homage to Peter Gilders Sudan campaign in 20mm with figures from Newline Designs.

The figures are really nice and with their sale prices very affordable.

I just need to work out how I downscale the dimensions.

Thanks

Paul

Very nice looking game. What rule system is were you using? Black Powder?

I have always wanted to start a Sudan colection, but have never gotten around to it.

Cheers

Very nice. Looks like the rules are called 'Sands of the Sudan'. You can see the cover in a couple of shots.

Very nice. Over the years I have 'done the Sudan' in 25mm then in 10mm. Both times they were 'club' efforts (different clubs) much fun was had with both projects. I do not think I could/would/should invest as much effort (again) as you have, but 28mm? a skirmish project? Mmmmm. nice idea.

:o Wow, 12 feet of Sudan wargame goodness! That’s a beautiful looking game.  The figures, cloth and scenery are terrific.  Thank you for posting such great photographs.  A lot of inspiration there.  A question about the rules if I may.  Does Sands of the Sudan use a paper roster system to keep track of casualties?
Hail to the King, baby.

I see you've gone with the Egyptian "cuirassiers" too. Good for you - one last flicker of the candle, as it were.
