Arab Israeli AAR Using Charlie Don't Surf
« on: October 31, 2018, 06:01:52 PM »
I hadn’t gamed with old friend Neil for at least 18 months, so it was a pleasure to get a date into the diary and push some lead around the table again.

We decided to have a battle set in the 1967 Six Day War between an Israeli and an Egyptian (UAR) force. The game would be a fictional encounter battle using the TooFatLardies Charlie Don’t Surf Vietnam rules adapted for the theatre and available on the Vis Lardica site.

Thanks for posting this. As well as being a good battle report, it also piques my interest as I would like to try I Ain't Been Shot Mum for a generic cold war setting.
Modifying Charlie Don't Surf seems like a good start, but I do have a couple of questions:
A) is CDS a stand-alone product or does it need the base rules?
B) does it have any guided missile rules?
Lovely little write-up, well fought over some nice terrain.
No battle plan ever survives first contact with the dice.

Very interesting game and really nice table. CDS is a great ruleset.

Hi

Yes, CDS is a stand alone product: a complete rule set.

Yes, but as this is a company-level game with one man = one figure, the TOWs (like just about all artillery and most mortars) are generally off-table, firing down a designated corridor or at a designated spot. It's a real pain to spot an opportunity, move forward into what seems like a safe position, then have all kinds of crap flying in at you from off-table! Takes ages to clear the copper wire off the tanks as well!

Cheers
