British Kittyhawk colors?
« on: October 31, 2018, 06:26:20 PM »
Looking for some help here. I am trying to find what colors are used in painting a British Kittyhawk fighter/bomber for the desert. I have the picture on the box (FOW kit) to go by but I can't find what colors were used.

Thanks,
Tom Reed

The schemes for the Desert Airforce were the same as for the RAF’s temperate schemes, except that  Dark Green was replaced with Middle Stone and the undersides were painted in Azure, rather than Sky, Azure being a deeper more vivid blue. So the scheme was Dark Earth and Middle Stone uppers and Azure undersides.

The IPMS Stockholm websire has a series of paint conversion charts so you can pick a colour depending on what brands you favour.

Like this but remember that colours fade fairly quickly on active service in the desert
