Lol. Believe it or not, it’s mostly deliberate.

I have this theory that a rough edge (where the foam tears a bit) will provide a better key for the glue and plaster that’s going on top. I’m also a bit cautious of everything being too ‘sharply precise’ rather than looking a tad weather worn.

You are right about things looking too neat. Some (especially MDF) model buildings look
like they have been starched & ironed. I prefer 'crumbly' as I also think it more believable,
especially on buildings that have been around for a while.

Blagged

I’ve now worked through 3 x A2 and 2 x A1 sheets of 5mm foamboard, the basic structure of the castle is complete. There still some tidying up to do when the glue has dried (eg, the various tower battlements) but the overall shape is now ‘there’.

After tidying the battlements I’ll be adding the windows and doors.
