I've used Delta Ceramcoat "Terracotta" as the base flesh color for all the Indians I've painted over the years. I follow it up with a reddish brown wash and then a lighter drybrush.  You don't want them too red.

Late to the game, I realize, but here's my take.

1) I use Iron Wind Metals (Ral Partha) Red Brown as a basecoat.

2) Dry brush Howard Hues Middle East Flesh

3) Highlight dry brush any ruddy flesh (I use Delta Ceramcoat craft paint)

Thanks for the reply. All useful information.

I have the Foundry Triad for Native American skin tone so I will try that to start with.
