I do like those markers. The ravens are an excellent idea.

Great concept and execution on those markers mate, especially the ravens.

They're brilliant mate. I love how you got so much dynamism from the plastic Perry models for the corpse piles.

You have to do a (really) photo-heavy batrep when you eventually get a chance to play a game. It'll be a hell of a thing to behold.

Thanks everyone, glad you like the test markers.... guess I’d better make a whole load more  :D

Excellent. That pile of bodies looks like a scene straight from The Battle of The Bastards!

Thank you Richard, I’ve had GoT on endless loop in my games room for the past two years, and it’s fair to say that the Battle of the Bastards is my favourite episode...the danger with a white snowy gaming mat is that the battlefield ends up looking almost clinical, so while I don’t want to revel in the gore, I want a visual reminder of the human cost.

Really great work! The crows are top notch especially, the green-stuff'd treestumps have turned out fantastic!

Cheers...the best bit is that they were so quick to do. I glued a small piece of dowel to the base, wrapped a blob of putty around it, and then scored it with a pin...the putty also hides the base of the metal bird.

The pile of corpses is inspired by Captain Blood’s excellent medieval thread

I have run a small test game with c250 figures to try out the rules I’m currently writing ... there is a brief battle report with a few photos on pg43, but I will of course take plenty of photos when I put a “proper” game on...need a bit more terrain before then.

A photo from this “skirmish”  :)

I managed to paint some more figures over the weekend, but due to the weather didn’t finish the bases until now.

First up some Umbers.

My first use of the Claymore Castings range, and I’ve got to say I’m mightily impressed... beautiful figures, and the array of kit, weapons and dynamic poses shouted out Umbers for me. The shields are my favourite heaters by Gripping Beast to help tie the figures a little together with the other ranges/Houses I’m using.

As you can see, it’s another House (as with the Bolton’s) where I prefer the TV sigil over that of the books.

I also had a little time leftover to add another couple of characters, again from manufacturers I haven’t used a great deal so far.

First up the Red Priestess is from Darksword...beautiful castings again, although I do find that some of the proportions on certain figures a bit “stretched” (or natural proportions if you prefer) for my liking...just personal taste.

Finally, a CMON ASOIAF “miniature” of the Mountain. CMON’s figures are a bit larger than most of the other ranges I use, and clearly Ser Gregor is a giant figure anyway, but I filed a couple of millimetres off the soles of his footwear all the same.

 :)

Great stuff, as usual mate! I particularly like the brigs on those first two. I agree with you on the Darksword sculpting.

Great stuff and excellent choice of figures too!

Agreed, the minimalist chains seem to have a nicer look to me and they've turned out great here! I'm sure someone probably could make the Roaring Giant look impressive, but I'm not brave enough to try!

Will you be using more of the Claymore range for other houses if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks everyone, glad you like them...they’ve been sat there intimidating everything else in the paint queue so it was nice to be able to chalk off another unit. :D

Will you be using more of the Claymore range for other houses if you don't mind me asking?

At this stage, I honestly don’t know...I enjoyed painting them, although drilling the hands for weapons isn’t my favourite task...ok if you are doing 1 or 2 figures, but 24 at a time becomes a bit of a drag. I might add a second unit of Umbers using the Antediluvian Minis range (same sculptor?).

It’s also a case of trying to find the right look for each House...I’ve bought figures before with one House in mind, but ended up painting them for a different one just because it seemed a better fit if that makes sense?

As it stands, I’ve got a scarily large amount already in the paint/build queue, so will have to see.
