Looking good so far!

What'd you use for the pavises in the end?

Thanks all for the kind words - must admit I don’t think I would have tried pink before playing Captain Blood’s GoT game at BLAM

I’ve gone with the Foundry Pavise for now - bit taller than the Perry ones, and closer to the look from Season 6.

Nice work.

They will really standout on a dark board (images from the TV series spring to mind).

That is an ambitious start.
Looking forward to see where you take this.

The figures you have chosen seem to work pretty damn well for the Bolton TV series image.
Good choice!

As for the....

Re: AKULA’s Game of Thrones Project (House Stark)

Thanks guys

Managed to get a few test pieces started for the next House....

House Stark
Again, have to say I really like the look of the Stark troops in the TV series - simple helmets, padded armour, and round wolf head shields. Mounted troops will be similar in terms of equipment, no plate armour.

I’ve used some Perry minis for the Starks (4 metal/1 plastic) - can’t remember where the shields are from...Crusader Miniatures possibly...with some green stuff wolf heads added. Have replaced the weapons with wire spears, considerably shorter than the long spear/pikes I used for the Bolton troops - wanted these to look a bit more practical in terms of guard duty/patrol. Bases will be finished later, once I’ve decided what I want...probably once I’ve had a think about terrain.

Looking good Matt. Love the shields.

I've added your thread to the LAF GOT compendium / index!

Re: AKULA’s Game of Thrones Project (pg2 snow bases)
« Reply #23 on: January 13, 2019, 05:28:33 PM »
I decided upon snow bases over Christmas, and went with a Woodland Scenics Snow + resin water mix (and then sprinkling some more snow on to the gloop once it’s on the bases).

Starks

A partial repaint of some existing WOTR figures (not originally painted by myself).

Direwolves

Not sure of the make, picked these up secondhand on eBay, and then repainted.

Bolton’s

Group shot

Next up on my painting table are some more partial repaints, as I look to pad out the numbers before I get back to some more from scratch.

Re: AKULA’s Game of Thrones Project (pg2 House Prester)
« Reply #26 on: January 19, 2019, 09:38:08 PM »
A bit of a “cheat” on my part ....a partial repaint of some existing War of the Roses minis (painted by someone else previously)....a few minor tweaks, and rebasing, and I have some forces for a Lannister retainer:

House Prester

I plan on using six-figure movement trays for infantry, so I’m thinking of troops in multiples of six all the time. For cavalry, I quite like the idea of four to a base.

Still thinking about my Lannister troops....will probably go with Perry’s for the bulk, but not 100% sure yet....I also like the look of Front Rank.

Them's some good Westermen! I like the idea of using WotR troops for the wealthier southron houses. They look great with the unified colour-scheme!

Thanks - it’s a relatively quick and simple way of getting some troops on the table.

I’m going to do something similar for some of the other “southern” Houses to give me enough troops for a game - I can then take my time on some mix’n’match builds for some of the more characterful forces.

A few more Perry’s, this time for House Tully.

I had a bit of a dilemma about the bases...not sure how many Tully’s we will see in the snow in Season 8, but I opted for snow bases to be consistent with my other forces.

No figures with shields yet to paint a sigil on, but I’ve painted a fish on their backs...handily not shown in the photo.
