Cheers all  :)

Nice civvies too, they the slavers?

Yup...at least until something better comes along, or I can be bothered to sculpt some.

 :)

Bit more progress....more Boltons

First up some grizzly terrain pieces....I was thinking about making some from scratch, and then, as if by magic some appeared on eBay, so a quick paint job later.... looks like I missed a paintbrush hair... ;D

Next...some more foot soldiers (crusader minis with Gripping Beast shields)

I wanted these to be a bit more grubby...on campaign. First up, a spear and shield rather than a pike/pavise ..much more practical for guard duty, or relieving some farmer from their silver. Next, a bit less uniformity than the pikemen, a few missing helmets, some green stuff fur...and then finally, some mud.

I flicked on some gloop, made from watered down paint with some fine sand added, and then used a couple more tones to indicate dried/caked mud vs the gloopy stuff.

It probably doesn’t come out in the photos, but the snow is more resin water and less snow, to give more of a melting snow effect...trust me, it looks better in real life.

The good thing is that mud partly obscures my paint jobs...in future I might just dip the figures in mud, and be done with it

 lol

And to finish off my unit of cavalry, another 3 figures (crusader minis with a few Fireforge weapon swops)

Group shot

Agreed! They're a good fit!

And nice terrain pieces! They're a lucky find!

Managed to get another unit finished today - House Velaryon, part of Stannis’ force.

“Your Grace, some good news”
“What is it Ser Davos?”
“Lord Velaryon of Driftmark has pledged himself to you, and called his banners”
“Hardly news.... if he didn’t I’d tie him to one of those bonfires we’re building.”
“Good news all the same, your Grace, our forces grow”
“Barely...who is going to tremble at the sight of a Seahorse banner coming over the horizon? .....Stags, Lions, Wolves, Dragons...all martial creatures, but Seahorses....have you ever been mauled by a Seahorse Ser Davos?”

Funnily enough when I ordered these figures from Black Tree Designs, I had them in mind as part of the Bolton force. By the time they’d arrived, and I based them up, I’d changed my mind and was thinking of using them as House Glover, but after priming them, they’d switched allegiance again, and became a Stannis retainer - the unflashy, functional armour seems to fit in with Stannis.

Shields are from Gripping Beast.

Nice to see some more of King Stannis' codfish lords! (As Renly puts it)

Great work! I've found the Velaryon seahorse to be one of the more agreeable sigils to paint! How about you?

I’m not the best with sigils, but it was fairly painless once I got into my stride - the colour scheme seems to work pretty well, and made a change from all the brown and grey of late.

Inspired in particular, by your thread, and the recent additions from Sukhe, I’m tempted to have a go at some mounted knights, from various Houses

Thanks mate.

Had a couple of times of late, when I’m just too tired to focus upon painting, but even then I’m trying to add more bits and bobs to the paint queue ...I don’t find a lot of figures waiting to be painted demotivating, actually the opposite, because it gives me different options.

Started off yesterday with the intention of making some more Unsullied, but ended up working upon putting some Golden Company together...inspired by Sukhe’s excellent thread. Have also ordered some Crusader miniatures mounted knights, as my overall forces are a bit light on cavalry.

 :)

A couple of WIP archers from the Summer Isles, in service to the Golden Company....clearly no one told them that “winter is coming”.

Perry Sudanese bodies....I used cut down Sudanese spears, as I wanted to give the impression of the yard long arrows. Bows are Perry, quivers are a couple of Oathmark cut/stuck together.
