And now the Old West has gone, cavalry forts are empty and abandoned. The soldiers in dirty shirt blue have rode into the sunset for the last time. The Sioux and Cheyenne horse warriors of the Great Plains are no more...

Do you wargame with them ?  I remember reading years ago about the skirmish games of Steve Curtis, Ian Colwell and Mike Blake (authors of the Western Gunfight Rules), generally accompanied by pictures of their wonderfully converted figures.

Yep, they're mostly Britains Deetail, but there's some Timpo and Crescent chaps sneaking about too.

Do you wargame with them

They get to swap hot lead now and again... perfect toys for 'Fistful of Lead' shootouts!

Utter mad brilliance, and the right decision not to sell them on, how could you?

Play with them and enjoy!

That is an amazing collection for sure, and I heartily concur with your decision to keep them. 54s are the perfect size for small scale actions like western gunfights! Hope we get to see more of them in the future?

Hah, I had both of those forts (the plastic one, and the folding wooden one with the base-baord).  Good times.  Mine were mostly occupied with Marx Alamo figures at the time.
