Pulp Alley: Vice Alley campaign set in the Old West
« on: December 10, 2018, 11:06:02 AM »
Doug and I had not played Pulp Alley for several months so are really looking forward to getting started with a new campaign and some regular Pulp Alley action. We are looking to play through the Vice Alley campaign again but this time rather than setting it in 1920's Chicago, to use 'The Old West' as a theme.

As we had not played for a while, and wanted to try out some new leagues we decided to start of with a stand alone game to get back into the swing of things.

I've added a photo report to my hobby blog @

Looks like a lot of fun, Chris. I especially like the idea of having moving perilous areas. May have to steal that one! Looking forward to seeing further updates of your adventures.

Great story.
I have been thinking of using Pulp Alley for a Western game.
Seems like a perfect fit.
I have a ton of Western stuff.
Time to get it out after the Holidays and have a go.

Yes, we started using moving perilous areas for zombie hoards in Pulp Alley, it is an easy mechanism that adds a nice touch of uncertainty and drama to the game. You can find something to use in most genres (policemen patrolling, loose horses, guard dogs etc). We roll a D6 for distance and a D8 for direction and use the D8 face as an arrow pointer. Simple, but effective.

Lovely. I'll definitely be putting that idea into some of my own games!   :)

Doug and I are scheduled to get together Thursday evening for some more Pulp Alley Old West action. I'm hoping it is going to be the first installment in the Old Vice Alley campaign, so will keep you all posted.

Most of my pulp Alley games are played in the old west. Its a perfect fit. That and I have a weakness for old west buildings. I bought a 3d printer to expand my Pulp terrain. I have been having a blast with that. More buildings = more pulp = more fun!

Pulp Alley - Vice Alley Western Campaign part 1
Last week Doug and I got started with our Vice Alley Western Campaign.
We had a trial game in this setting a couple of weeks ago, which had worked very well, so I decided to stick with my league, unchanged, the stage was set for an exciting opening encounter between my vigilantes and Doug's outlaw syndicate. Pulp Alley never fails to deliver an exciting nights entertainment. I've added a write up with lots more photos to by hobby blog @ http://wargamesbuildings.co.uk/Hobby-Pages/Western-Campaign-part-1

Yes - great stuff, Chris; inspired me to unearth my 54mm Westerns and have a little solo set-to using PA rules.

One question - why did you post this here and not on the dedicated Western board?

Doug

I posted here, just because it's a Pulp Alley campaign and this felt like the home for Pulp Alley stuff?
I often think it would be good to be able to have a pointer in other Forums for threads that could go be in either.
