A few months back I posted some pics of some of my first mainly-Perry WOTR units after I took up the hobby around July 2017.
Been plugging on since, and I've had the collection out in a couple of Lion Rampant games, and bought more stuff. The end goal is two varied armies, one Lancastrian, one Yorkist, of at least 300 minis each for a total of 600+ figs. So far up to about 120. (It's a long-term thing!)

Here's some of the most recent - pike and arquebus from the Perry European Mercenaries set. Burgundian livery (like the box cover). This is a great set with tons of variation and a good mix of weapons. I'll go back to it and do some crossbowmen once I've finished what I'm working on currently, which is six cavalry.

Comments and suggestions very welcome. While basically I want a massive army with loads of flexibility I also want to get good at painting. Trust me this is better than my first lot!

Looks like a great start - very neat. I admire your ambitious goals too - stick with this one project, don't be distracted. It will be worth it! You say you have 150 painted? Let's see some more then!

You also said you took up the hobby in 2017... Are you completely new to it, including figure painting? If so this is very impressive!

Cheers all - and Charlie I've been sticking to it like glue. It helps that I'm basically only interested [fixated?] with WOTR.

So technically I did paint some Warhammer Empire for a short while a 14-year-old 22 years ago (very badly). But it's basically like a new start.

Here's my first lot from last year. My word how time flies https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=104087.msg1294137#msg1294137

I'll post some more bits I've done since as well.

Fantastic, the gilded armour on Edward is very impressive - what's your recipe?

Yeah that pretty much how it went for me too. Warhammer as a teenager, then gave it up. Then over a decade later was temped to take up the hobby again, this time purely historicals.

Charlie gilded armour is;

1. GW shining gold base
2. Liberal but careful wash of Agrax Earthshade
3. Re-apply shining gold as very dry dry brush, almost like you're buffing it back on
4. Pick out highlights with a brighter Vallejo gold, maybe mix in a bit of silver with it, but very subtle highlights, less is more.

I've actually done some better gold bits on other models which I'll post here soon.

If you fancy a game any time Charlie let me know. I've completely failed to find anyone local to me who's into WOTR/late medieval. Happy to travel from East Mids given my lot hardly ever make it out of the cupboard and onto a table!

Good luck with the project! My club and I are in full swing with a big Wars of the Roses project ourselves, and I'm looking for some minutes to share some pics.

Thanks I've tried to make each batch better than the last and I read a lot of blogs and watch tons of YouTube vids. A few people on Twitter have been super helpful too. Definitely getting there and might at least enter a competition in the new year even if its just to get trounced but pick up more tips!

A few more done - John De Vere, 13th Earl of Oxford, and various retainers on foot. Surcoat is his full heraldry. Flag on cotton. Stars are painted - not transfers. Wanted to try it, but it was a pain! Archers in his livery next. All Perry plastics from the foot men at arms set with a few additions from the bow and bill set for variation.
