[Rangers] mission one clarification needed

I convinced two friends of mine to try Rangers of the Shadow Deep this christmas. I will be in charge of setting up the table and providing the monsters. Our goal is to play the first mission (The Missing) i.e. the first two scenarios.

I have a question regarding Scenario 1: The Deserted Village.

p.91; Set-Up: "Two giant rats should be placed adjacent to two randomly determined buildings."

Does this mean (a) two buildings, one rat each or (b) two buildings, two rats each. The same wording is repeated on the Event Cards Table (Red 6), which leads me to believe that reading (a) is correct. Am I right?
