StuIG 33b (15mm, 3d print)
« on: December 21, 2018, 12:00:11 AM »

I printed this model to test Cura 3.6's concentric top shell slicing, with very satisfactory results. It's a 1:100 scale (15mm) StuIG 33b, basically just a 150mm howitzer in a steel box on a StuG III chassis. It'll come in handy if we ever get to Stalingrad.

I'm still on the fence about 3D printed stuff...as an avid modeler, those layer lines drive me nuts.  I bought a few printed stuff, and vested too much time sanding.  I know there is some smooth-on stuff out there, but the fine details gets lost.

Bottom line, if you're happy with it, that's all that counts.  The painting and weathering looks good too!

The 33b is my favourite assault gun variant and that one is looking rather nice.

Also, a good size next to the figure.

Is it a single piece or did you print it in parts for assembly?

It's a single piece. I could cut it up a bit, but I don't think I'd gain much.
