Yes - I'm a fan of green for the feeling of weight it gives to machinery.
The paint process is just acrylics and inks - I went into a bit of detail on the blog:
Should be finished with this one pretty soon!

You're to be commended for going back and fixing things you believe could be done better (control mechanisms, coal bunker/shovel to fill an empty corner, MSPB replacement, etc).
