Verd's Sci-Fi stuff (update Jan. 17, 2020)
« on: December 29, 2018, 10:43:05 PM »
Here's some miscellaneous minis I completed just now. I really need to clear up my workdesk, so I can start on the Blackstone Fortress stuff ;D.

The first bunch is Meridian Minis, I figured these could work as IG, or some planetary defence force, honor guard or something. Rifles look like lasguns enough, but they could be anything from muskets to radium rifles at a pinch?

The above are Pig Iron Rebels (?), but in addition to freedom fighters these wouldd do the job as scavengers or any scum types etc.

Last trio, I believe the two cyber dudes are War Machine, can't remember who makes the bald punk type?

Looking great!  :-*

The last one is a 'slick' from East Riding Miniatures that can be found here: https://shop.eastridingminiatures.co.uk/slicks-89-c.asp

Nice painting and an interesting selection of miniatures.

My way of clearing the desk for the next shiny project is to put the current denizens in boxes and then forget where I put them.

This might explain why I get verry little done ^__^.

I commend yiur dilligence (and evident skill).

Love those pigiron scavengers Verd. I imagine they are among the most useful figs one could have in their collection.

It's funny since as I understand it the East ridding slicks were made to stand in for Delaques,  yet the new plastic Delaques look even more like the Slicks than ghe Slicks did the old metal Delaques, if that makes any sense.

That first unit looks very Victorian Sci Fi Prussian or German, or perhaps Weird War One.  Nice looking group.

Nice stuff. The top lot look great as Imperial Guard proxies.

Hey, started airbrushing my Alchomite Stacks. This is how they look after first session. I will 'salt' the panels on the main pieces, and then spray on a cream color and light grey. The result should be partially rusted coat of paint. Then I will move on to brush work.

Although I am a little tempted to leave them like this, completely rusted?

Here's what they look like after the salt technique:

This does subdue the red rusty colours quite a bit, but I will goe over them quickly  one more time, and then I am going to apply some rust effects by hand of course.

Back to painting some scif stuff, this is for Alien RPG mostly, but these certainly are usable in others too:

Some Starship Troopers posing as space suited minis.

Weyland-Yutani officials/crew or whatever. I used a bit more relaxed and casual scheme, so they can pose as various civvy types.

Two mechanics from Colony 87.

A couple of scientists, I forgot who these are by?

Rackham's Red Blok characters from At-43. I only touched up their skin, hair and eyes.

Two old GW Van Saar, and an Infinity character in the middle.

Next up will be Xenos and USCM... loads of them in fact.

I love what you have done here, particularly the reimagining of the Starship Trooper minis and the absolutely brilliant Weyland-Yutani crew. Very inspirational!
