Alternative Armies Fomorians for OGAM
« on: January 02, 2019, 08:09:13 AM »
Not sure whether these fit in here or Fantasy Adventures, but I think they’re more mythic than fantasy...

I loved this range from Alternative Armies and am hoping to get more of these painted this year for an army - probably for Of Gods And Mortals or Dragon Rampant.

Thanks! Sure, move them if you think they’re better off there.

Lovely models, the Erin range is one of the most overlooked Celtic Myth options available, very stylised but great characters.

I think this is the perfect home for the thread. The description on the home page says:
"Age of Myths, Gods and Empires"
The Ancient World, real and imagined, from the Stone Age to the Fall of the Western Roman Empire"

For us Celts this is legend not Fantasy.

Robh, what its obvious to you may not be to others.
As you know i´m not a native to english language and my knowledge of Celtic mythology is limited as it is to others therefore my proposition to move to the fantasy board.

What i ask as a moderator to all is when you place your posts regarding a subject of mythology please write a few words of what the miniatures represent.
I speak for myself that i would like to improve my knowledge and be abble to identify what is fantasy and myth and i´m sure others would apreciate this too. ;)

James, keep those lovely painted miniatures coming. We are enjoying them. :D

They are great. I'm hoping you have Chicol and Conann painted too. Did you do the painting for AA's website?

Cheers! Yes, I have those models, I’ll try to get a photo next time I do some snaps. I didn’t exactly paint the models for the AA website; they asked to use some of my pictures.

Very nice. Either the minis or your paintjob seems to be inspired by the Gremlins movies. I must get some of these myself.

Celtic mythology is fascinating.
My first contact was through Slaine comics. One of the two most successful comic magazines back in 80s Greece was "Agori" (boy, lad). Those magazines were basically almanacs collecting mainly french, belgian, british and italian comic strips, since american superhero comics had too expensive licences. That actually worked out better for us kids cause we got a more rounded view of the comic scene. Slaine was one of the most popular stories featured along with Johnny Red and Judge Dredd.

Great work !

i think that the figurines could be more "celtic" by replace the fantasy' shield for true celtic ones   ;)

Good point, I think Hasslefree might have some celtic style ones, or at least slightly celtic inspired. Although good luck getting them with the current worries.
EDIT: Just looked and they don't have them anymore. They were for their ogres which I think they may have sold?
