28mm Mayan Skull Rack
« on: January 02, 2019, 07:53:37 PM »
Evening.  Here is my Mayan skull rack.  I wanted to make it generic enough to use in multiple genera and have space for models to move.  I only drilled 234 skulls by hand to make it.  That does not include the number of times that I glued my fingers together.

It still have a bit of weathering and vegetation to add.
Hope you like.

Very ingenious, where did you get all the skulls from?

Excellent, very atmospheric!

Would also look good when posed with a predator.

Thanks for the comps all.

The majority were from here.  (Good bulk buy as there are 228 human skulls in the box)

There are also skulls from:
Reaper

Secret weapon

Fortress Figures (not in production)
Wargames Factory (not in production but rumor has it that they have been picked up by Warlord Games)

Again thanks for the comps all.

That GW skulls box is an absurdly good buy.  You'll probably only need one in your hobby career (barring projects like Mayan skull racks, at least) but having the set for your bits box is well worth the $25 ish cost.

I've been thinking of 3d sculpting some myself for use as a skull pyramid that the Myrkridia use in the Myth computer games.

You have just out-skulled GW; no mean feat!

Khorne would be crying bloody tears of joy at the sight  :D

Great work on this piece; it's both impressive in its scope and creepy in its implication. I also like your use of so many different brands to get to this result. I hope you've been using a powered drill btw, because doing all of that with a pin vice...

Heads off to you, good sir!  :)

I am on my third but I tend to horde bits.

Impossible.  GW invented the skull suppository.  lol  Just look at the Garden of Moor skulls.

I had to do them all by hand.  My dremel would have been too fast and I could not find my transformer as it is a 110 and I am now living in a 220 world.  In the end I had to wear an apron as I kept loosing them when setting the bit.
Again thanks all for the comps.
