The Tallarn have arrived on Xoxigar Secondus. for their first patrol of their Area of Operations they were told it was a depopulated area and therefore a Free Fire Zone - there should be no friendlies out there, any one the encountered would likely be a hostile. So when they spotted some shambling grey-metallic monstrosities shrouded in some sort of obscuring fog - who could that be but the "Nee-Crones" they read about in the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer"!?
they opened fire... the hated "xenos" shot back...
Oh, did they ever shoot back!!
Lt. Al'Saphira rushed his troops up to a low wall at the edge of the village. Hostiles could be seen climbing ruined tower at the other edge of the village. first squad started taking fire from them right away - though the fire was initially infective.
The Second Squad arrived and quickly moved up to support the Lieutenant and his command squad - who were now feeling quite exposed after the first squad was wiped out by the hostiles fire!
A genuine cavalry battle! Wait... are we sure these are xenos...?
The supporting armour arrives, but it was too little, too late...
