Painting Goals - 2019
« on: January 15, 2019, 03:44:20 AM »
I am experienced enough to know I won't paint everything I plan to paint in the coming year, though I can dream.

Some things include:
  • Anything that's shiny and distracts me
  • 15mm Sumerian army for DBA
  • 15mm Teutonic Knights (5 stands) for ADLG
  • 28mm Tau and Kroot (~40 miniatures) for Kill Team
  • 28mm Late WWI Germans/Freikorps (~50 miniatures) for no rule set at the moment - just get them painted!
  • 28mm characters and zombies (17 miniatures) for The Walking Dead: All Out War
  • 28mm terrain (various bits and pieces)
  • 15mm Napoleonic French (a division or whole army) for FoGN
  • Anything that's shiny and distracts me
That's enough for now...

Most of this should be possible, as last year I painted ~50 28mm miniatures, a 15mm Malay DBA army, a 15mm Mongol ADLG army and a few other bits and pieces.

The things I painted in 2019 include:

Cool frogs.   Good to have a plan for the year though it never does seem to work as you lay it out does it?   lol

Thanks guys, I think I can achieve most of it. At the moment I can't think of a new game that's going to get in the way.

AH.. ha..   can i interest you in?

Actually, I will probably do much the same, I have enough lead to keep me busy, following a somewhat expensive January. But doubtless something shiny will happen.

Will resist expanding the one squad of WWII USMC into enough for Chain of Command, because then I would need to get opponents, a whole new set of terrain etc..

After getting initial negative reactions and no interest locally, Cruel Seas seems to have had a massive surge of 3-4 purchasing the game.

I'm going to stay strong - it's not even February!

Cool froggies.
I like the first bullet point that needs painting, that usually overrules everything else I plan to paint.  lol

Very nice. The windows are great as well as the oil stains.

Thanks - learnt from my days of painting Brigade Models' aeronefs (black for the whole window "bump", blue just for the top surface). And the oil stain worked best on the Elcos that have more surface detail. They really were an easy set to paint even considering the crazy two weeks I had at work.

Nice looking PT boats. Do the kits come with decals or did you use some you had?  Still debating this game.

They don't (but then there were very few markings on US PT boats as the war progressed). I forgot to add the link (and the first post is also updated), but I just used 15mm WWII tank markings and 1/72 P-40 decals for the shark teeth.

Game wise I've only played two games, but it's fun and doesn't take itself seriously (the points system is already showing its flaws). It would be a good group game or convention game. And the model are very pretty - but then I already liked naval games and WWII games, so this is aimed at people like me.

Not really set myself any goals as such, but I bought a DBA Syracuse army at Britcon last August and jokingly said 'I must get these painted before next years show' .

Unfortunately in the meantime I have suffered detached retina and the start of a cataract - so I think I have my work cut out....
