Here’s some of the Lucid Eye elves that I’ve been painting up for Red Book of the Elf King, though I think they will do double service as Sidhe for Of Gods And Mortals.  I decided to replace some of the weapons with swords from the fab Oathmark plastic elves (as only spears are supplied), and replaced all the cast spears with Northstar steel ones.

The shields are also a swap, I chose resin shields from Scibor Miniatures (pricey, but worth it for the Celtic designs).

As people have asked, I’ve included a couple of comparison photos featuring an Oathmark plastic goblin, a GW metal Gandalf, a GW metal Uruk Hai and an Alternative Armies Celt.  The bottom photo is a shot of a Mortal, Troll and Elf from the Red Book range.

Background is a download from Jonny Hodgson Art.

Those are amazing. I love the backdrop as well. It really sets them off.

Those are very nice paint jobs. Thank you for the comparison shots. They look tall, but not horribly so compared to the human you posted up. I do like tall elves.

Great paint on those! To my mind, the "elves" don't look very elvish, but I do really like the way you've done them with the Celtic shields.

I've got a half dozen of the trolls as well, still in half-painted limbo, and they sure are big guys, even if (hunched over as they are) they aren't visibly a great deal taller than most other figures these days. But you do get the impression that, unhunched, they'd be a good 7 to 8 feet tall.

I've been following this thread and just want to say great work! I'll try to emulate your success, and have already gone for a blue-skinned effect on the little flesh these guys have visible.

Thanks for the positive comments, everyone!  They are tall but not giant, though definitely in a different height league to the GW Lotr range.  I think the take on the elves is very much Scandinavian, with a big chunk of fantasy thrown in.  I tried green skin on the trolls too, but preferred the blue, especially as they may get roped in to some Norse OGAM at some point as frost giants.

I’m very much enjoying painting these minis.
