Street fighting in Crete, May 1941
« on: January 25, 2019, 10:21:54 PM »
Last year I played a few scenarios set in Heraklion in 1941 featuring the Germans fighting the Cretans inside the city - here’s a few photos.

Very cool!  Some of the pics look like they were in the latest copy of WSS #100.  They have a whole spread about the FJs.

Thanks! The gendarmes are conversions, mostly Woodbine ww1 Ottoman Turks (plus a few Footsore BUF And Tiger Miniatures WW1 Greeks). I swapped the heads for Woodbine French with kepis and green stuffed some boots.

Thanks! Yes, the photos are some of my iPhone shots from that WSS photo session.

Congratulations! Nice idea and extremely well execution. Well done!
for an added variety you could use a couple of Tiger miniatures Greek balkan wars infantry with italian helmets and the gorgon studios Greek partisans which has a couple of miniatures with cretan traditional breeches.

By the way: all gendarmes should have one chevron! Their NCOs should have 2 or 3.

Thank you! That’s helpful to know about the gendarmes. I actually painted chevrons on all of them originally, then got rid of them because I thought it was wrong...should have checked here first!

I have some Tiger Greeks and spare helmets but haven’t done any conversions yet. The Gorgon Cretans are already in the collection though😁.

This is an excellent project and being honest an aspect of the campaign I'd never even thought about.

Inspirational work! Leaves one wanting to go about building terrain and converting!  :o
