Soviet Veteran Squad in Snowsuits
« on: February 01, 2019, 05:10:49 PM »
Hello all! A second thread for my soviet forces, here's the first entry, namely the excellently sculpted Veteran Squad in snowsuits, with a minor conversion of one of the NCO's. Looking forward to feedback and opinions!  :D

The figures look good. I like the contrast between the suit and gloves and the discolouration to the trousers. Personally with winter clad gentlemen I tend to base them on snowy bases, but with dark earth showing underneath for a bit of contrast. It may give the snow suits a bit more context.

I can get where you're coming from Mark M Down! I might just add the snow as soon as I get my hands on the basing material! And thanks for the kind words!  :D

Nice work on the figures.

I might suggest using a drier colour  basing material to go with the snow, maybe Woodland Scenics Burnt Grass colour (I use the fine turf -foam- and some no name static grass bought at a local model railway show on my bases).

Looks fantastic! I do agree, some snow would help tie the bases and models together. I've done lots of snow basing and I've found a mixture of GF9 snow flock/PVA Glue/ Water (Roughly 50%/25%/25% respectively) gives you a nice fluffy fresh snow look.

Thank you, Dobbie and Truscott Trotter!

Will look at that and try both out for coming projects.  ;)
