28mm Road to Tunis
« on: January 30, 2019, 06:38:05 AM »
Spent the bulk of this month hobby time for the start of my US Army for Tunisia. This is the majority of the infantry to fight axis last foothold on the african continent:

Great paintwork there. I presume these were given a wash? Also, what colours did you use for the webbing and jackets?

Cheers Guys!

@ Hang Tuah: Yes these were quickpainted using alot of Army Painters Strong Tone ink. Colors Vallejo Model Color jackets base color was 50/50 873+988, after ink only 988 and highlighted with 976. Webbing is plain 819 with a repaint after ink.

They look great! I'm seeing some Marine arms in there too, which adds some great variation to the force. I've done the same thing with my Pacific Theater Army and USMC. If you want to do any guys not wearing Parsons jackets, you can also shave off the little bit below the belt and they look pretty much like the shirt, albeit minus the chest pockets, but you can't really see those most of the time anyway.

Here's an example:

Nice job.

I am guessing an Italeri/Warlord M4 (Sherman I), but was interested in what make are the jeeps?

Is that a Chaplain on the left of your pics? If so that's the first time I've ever seen one in a WW2 army, does he have any special spiritual powers?  :D

Thanks gents.

Liked the idea of having some higher power for the inexperienced troops :) In Bolt Action there are rules for a chaplin, he can test to remove a pin marker from a friendly unit.

That cross on the front of his helmet would make a great aiming point for a German sniper  :o ;D

Nice job on them.

It is a pity that Warlord/Italeri fitted the appliqué armour on their M4.
