Awesome work Pil! Really like the story-telling and how it turned out. The sixth scout is very nice as well! Good to see you finished it.

Those are old 40K monsters, Rogue Trader era.  Kind of the 40k version of the D&D umber hulk if memory serves me right.

Where to get those Aliens?

As UncleRhino said they are old Rogue Trader/40k models. They are called "Ambull" and you can occasionally find them on eBay (mostly eBay UK). Prices can vary a lot but they are usually around 10-25 quid each. Not really suitable for large armies unfortunately.

I tried to get some D&D CMG Umber Hulks first but they were so 'rare' that the prices were vey similar (10-20 quid each) so I figured I might as well get the real deal ;)

When the D&D models start dropping in price they might be a good alternative (D&D Umber Hulk and D&D Umber Hulk Delver).

I love Ambulls. I can't believe I didn't buy any when I was a Rogue Trader-mad teenager. What was I thinking? They're among the best sculpts from those days, and would be so useful to have as scary monsters for any genre. The paint-job here really does them justice.

(Having said all that, I voted for Hammers. I really dig those trolls, and aren't sick of them yet. I feel a bit sad for them though, they are the girl at the dance who nobody wants to dance with.    :'( )

I love those trolls as well and the paintjob is still really good. I voted for them in numerous rounds but by now I would love to see something fresh from mr. Hammers ;)

Thanks for the kind words on the Ambulls. It was hard for me to think of anything other than a drybrush to paint them, but with so many different textures on the model it really works. I was lucky enough to pick these up at quite low prices and I really wanted at least two of them for better effect.

They've also already seen their first game as an encounted, slaughtering quite some tynarids 8)

First entry is still just as demonic and disgusting as ever.

Second entry is very well painted...nice shading and detail.

Good luck to you both!!

Maybe good to mention that they were also slaughtered by quite some tyranids (and that they don't like genestealers)...
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

If that is your school dance experience, mate, for Gods sake get out of Wales. There are pretty girls elsewhere.
