Stradiots and Swiss Polearm for Italian Wars Project

https://yarkshiregamer.blogspot.com/2019/02/stradiots-and-swiss-polearm-for-italian.html

Evening all,

Can't stop painting at the moment (which ain't a bad thing) so I will just keep milking the paint mojo till it runs dry.

This week I have added a unit of bow armed Stradiots and some Swiss Polearm troops to the hordes.

Both Perrys Miniatures, it's hard to pick fault with these figures, the detail is just great and a real joy to paint, don't know if it's my painting style but they just seem so easy to do.

Lots of pics on t'blog. More Italian Wars soon.

Regards Ken

Looking good!
I'm a big fan of those Perry metal halberdiers too, despite the sometimes malformed hands.

Great stuff. Its also the first close up photo I can find of Perry stradioti. I was thinking of ordering some but I was afraid of the known casting issues. I can see here that they are ok. Thank you.

Thanks everyone,

Charlie, my only ever gripe 're Perrys Miniatures is the hands, especially those which are open, these needed a bit of a clean up but nothing to mad.

Captain Harlock, no problem at all with the figures, I am not aware of any casting problems with Perrys and trust me I have bought a few  ;)

I'm painting some of them right now, and on the worst offenders of the front rank ones I was actually able to replace the hands with plastic polearm hands from the WOTR box. The spacing is different, but as I was giving them pikes I was drilling them out anyway rather than using the plastic bill. I'm glad I did it, it's a huge improvement. But it's only worth doing on front rank models.

Those Stradiots are fabulous. Do you have any references for those shield decorations and the colours of their clothing?

Hi, thanks very much. No references I'm afraid, with them being an irregular force I have gone for natural clothing colours, browns, greens etc. There are quite a few illustrations on the likes of Pinterest etc of Stradiots and I have taken inspiration for the shields from that but the designs are my own interpretation.
