Post-Apocalyptic Movies?
« on: February 03, 2019, 01:04:58 AM »
All,
It seems that whenever I search through Netflix or other sources for PA movies, I get not much more than variations on "The Road" or "Mad Max".  I would love to find films that feature skirmish actions between groups of the sort that most of us game.  Groups that look like the Lead Adventure minis.  Anyone have any suggestions?

How It Ends was good. But would be really small skirmish 2-3 figures per side but not akin to LAF miniatures...

The 100 and The Rain were decent t.v. series. Larger battles but again I think the miniature styles of LAF are too P.A.

Can't put masks on all the actors because casual watchers will be unable to tell anyone apart.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

If you're into comics as well, the Scout series may also be of interest:

Not a film, but I enjoy the TV series (on Amazon) Into the Badlands.

There's always "The Bed Sitting Room", providing you don't mind an absurd, Monty Pythonish type of apocalypse.

I've never seen the film of "On the Beach", but it is one of my favourite books. Bloody depressing, mind.

Edit: Just to be clear, neither of these contain skirmishing or any combat as far as I remember. But they are noteworthy nonetheless.

The Survivor's (as mentioned but not the 2008 remake the 70s original.)

A boy and his dog has great potential for a skirmish game telepathic dogs acting as a combat radar. Robot's
Dressed as mid western farmlands. Mutants, religioud cults . whats not to love.
The Changes. A childrens tv series back from a time when it was perfectly acceptable to send your children to bed terrified. Post technology break down ( all technology/electronics starts emitting sounds that turn most people homicidal . And technophonic cults and superstition become the norm.)

The Omega chronicles, and Scanners.more dystopian than post apocalyptic.

Escape from New York.

Logan's Run.( both film and tv series)

The last train. (Couldn't for the life of me remember its name.had to look it up)
Tv series . starts with survivors waking up on a train having been cryogenically frozen . To a Britian post asteroid strike .
