Well the FSV saw even less use. Only in theatre for a few months in 1971 and not utilised very much outside of convoy escorts even then. Truth be told it was a bit of a dud but I suppose it’s kinda cool, so yeah I wouldn’t mind one.

Hmm, good point. Mud & Dust shows that they weren't deployed until 'mid 1971', so well outside my standard time-frame. That just means one less hull to worry about!

Excellent! Been looking forward to these!

Now, purely for planning purposes, is that the Australians ‘done’ or may we expect, for example a pack of firing poses with M16 or more M79 armed chaps or Owen gun wielding diggers?

No not done and I certainly agree we need another SLR pack.

We have some more Marines and NVA to do next to get the huge number of vehicles out first but we will return to the ANZACS ASAP.  ;)

Another M60 figure patrolling would be good. Round out the platoon.

Alas, I suspect, I’ll keep feeding this habit until I have a full company.  lol

Yes I think we need to consider another section to make the full platoon so that no doubles are necessary.  ;)

Hmm (thinks hard....) nah, maybe a troop. What I'm really hanging for are some Aussie M113A1s with all the bells and whistles.

No Black Wolf is right you need a Squadron.

Maybe our kind benefactors/ crack dealers at Empress could be persuaded to make a mod for 1/48 Hueys? :)

Have to say that I have pretty much looked into this and its not attracting me much. Obviously we have to make decisions that are commercial although trust me our own passions get hold quite a lot and vanity projects occur. Look out for an impending WW1 vanity project as an example.

For helos they are big to start with and so printer size has to be considered. Secondly how to do the canopy/ cockpit. We could do it as a filled in section and you pain the windows on. Or, preferably we do the cockpit and the perspex sections. However clear resin is incredibly expensive. Thus the size and cost of materials may make the model very expensive.   Then where do you stop. I want Marine Helos  which are even bigger!!!!

So please discuss to nudge us in the right direction.  lol

OK I think that I have caught up now and we have a silly busy wek ahead with new rules and a big announcement next week. Stay tuned. :)

Paul,I think what Carlos means is an accessory kit to modify a slick into a Bushranger: that would be the miniguns ,rockets, ammo bins (unique to Bushrangers) and the twin M60s. I guess a combination of resin and metal would work :) We provide the kit :D

I wasn’t suggesting you do the choppers. Resin Hueys would be heavy, fragile and bloody expensive and there’s really no need, plenty exist in 1/48 plastic. Admittedly anyone wanting an accurate UH-1B will have to chop a couple of kits and kit-bash but otherwise, we’re pretty good. Marine helos are equally well served in plastic.

I have a resin Alouette somewhere, it’s half put together and unloved. Twas meant to be a companion for its diecast brother but I lost interest.

What I am suggesting is to do some weapons stations and weapons to retro-fit to existing plastic kits. M-60 Mounts, 2.75” rocket pods, maybe a minigun, if you are so inclined. The mounting points for a UH-1 C or E or an RAAF Bushranger could be easily done in a combination of white metal and/or resin. Make ‘em 1/48 and you will probably pick up the scale modelling crowd. The after-market parts world, whilst niche is probably as big as the gaming world.

I’d also suggest doing some crew, including some seated passengers and door gunners. 28mm would be fine but again if you scaled up a little, the modellers would be happy. Pitch them as after-market conversions for the Italeri/Kitty Hawk Huey and plug ‘em on Britmodeller  or Finescale Modelling.

Worth thinking about.

By the way the solution in the resin Alouette’s case was a vac formed cockpit. Much cheaper than clear resin. You got two, one as a spare/ practice item.

Of course if you ever do fancy making a chopper, do a Westland Scout to go with your Cold War Brits. The Fujimi Wasp is as rare as hen’s teeth and expensive if found. I live in hope that Airfix will one day make a 1/48 Scout along with a proper Westland Whirlwind.

Oh and for the record TAG do gunners and crew, so presumably there’s a market of some sort. You could always ask Pete as to how well they sell.
