Difference in uniform/dress for Viet Minh vs Viet Cong?
« on: February 09, 2019, 08:25:08 AM »
I am looking to build a 28mm force that can be used for the conflicts both against the French and USA, so is there anything in particular to look out for? Are the quilted jackets ok for the 1960s? Grateful for any comments or suggestions!

Not really. The colder bits of Vietnam tend to be, although are not quite exclusively, in the north, especially in the mountains bordering Laos and China. The American War was fought in the South. Padded jackets would probably not look the part.

Some of the Red Star/FNG/Empress range could be used as NLF, particularly early on or as local forces, which tended to use older kit.

Pretty much what he said. But Empress said they will be making a whole line of Vietnam figs, including ones that bridge the gape between the French and American war. This should include ARVAN with M1 and BARs. And Local force/Viet-Cong with French equipment that can pull double duty. But the main question is do you want to wait that long for them to come out?  lol
