[Kickstarter] - Terrors from the Deep
« on: February 12, 2019, 12:26:31 PM »
Hi all,

Coming soon from Katsina, we present a set of 9 Titans of the high seas for use in aquatic based gaming.

First up is the mighty Sea Elemental - terrifying spirit of the ocean made manifest!

Height - 35mm

The scale of these models is approximately 1:1000 but as we do not have any scale indicators they can be used in 28mm gaming to represent large sized creatures or entities associated with water.

Model Sculpted by Dorota Stefanska.

Terrors from the Deep #2

The Sea Serpent

The second monster is a classic sea serpent, maw lined with razor sharp teeth dripping with briny drool, a deathly rancid stench steams from it's breath.

These look pretty good. Might be very useful for an OOP game with the same name as an early modern warship and a famous heavy metal band from the states!

Thanks DivisMal.

They are deliberately scale neutral as you never know when you need to spring a nasty aquatic creature on a player crossing what they thought was an easily traversed body of water :)

Terrors from the Deep #4 - The Giant Crab

The giant crab is believed to live on the seabed. Some say the giant crab rises to the surface to wreak havoc only if summoned with elemental magics.

It is an immense creature the size of a small Island. An iron hard carapace gives it protection from attacks, whilst tremendously powerful pincers can chop up masts, sails and sailors with ease. With eyes looming on stalks the size of oak trees it searches for prey to grab with its giant claws to shovel into its gaping maw.

Whether the giant crab is the only one of these beasts or whether there are many of these creatures that have been conflated together out of sailor's tales is unknown.

Very interesting look to these!
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Good to hear. Ihave a lot of pirates ready who would hate to have such creatures appear next to their boats! lol

Gee, you think?  Want to bet the next four will be a horned whale, an aquatic dragon, a giant triton, and a big toothy fish?

Terrors from the Deep #5 - The Kraken

The Kraken is a cephalopod-like creature of gargantuan proportions that lurks off of coastal areas in the storm blasted northern seas. It is among the largest sea monsters in the world. It can swallow men, ships, whales and everything else within reach.

When it attacks, most of it's vast bulk is hidden beneath the waves. A ship will get little warning if one of these monsters decides to make a meal out of it. The sea will begin to bubble around the vessel as a multitude of gigantic tentacles stream forth from the broiling sea to latch on to the vessel, picking it clean of screaming crew. As the beast grabs hold of the ship and rocks it, the crew will be plucked from rigging and decks by the tentacles and flung into a maw that can bite a whale shark in two.

It stays submerged for days, then when hungry, rears its head and nostrils above surface and stays that way at least until the change of tide. While it doesn't have excellent eyesight on the surface, it's enormous black eyes afford it a very wide angle of view of the horizon which when combined with it's sense of smell make it a very dangerous beast indeed for sailors who need to spot the beast first and ensure to remain downwind of it or risk becoming it's next meal.

The original name for these creatures has for most been lost to time and superstition as it become a taboo word which was believed to summon these monsters. Some scholars have noted that this may be still incorporated into the rituals of some of the schools of magics, but none of the schools of magic will either confirm or deny this when pressed on the matter.

These are great, especially the shark! Any ideas on when the Kickstarter will be?

Thanks for the feedback.

Kickstarter is not likely for a couple of months yet but certainly by the end of summer.

Terrors from the Deep #6 - The Great Narwhal

The Great Narwhal is also known as the Narwhale and at times called the unicorn of the sea. It is one of the largest of the whale species, being at least 5 to 10 times as large as other whales. It is a largely benign species but will aggressively defend itself if anything is foolish enough to attack it when it surfaces to breathe.

The spiral horn, which grows magically from a tooth, measures several meters in length and is said to possess many wondrous transformative properties by alchemists. It is said to be worth more than 100 times it’s weight in gold which has tempted many a foolish whaler, and many a foolish whaler has been sent to the bottom of the drink, ships hull pierced with the mighty horn. The ancient high sea kings of the north were said to sit on thrones carved from the horn of Great Narwhals.
