advice on Cold War/Falklands 20mm minis
« on: February 13, 2019, 01:23:53 PM »
Hello
i'm continuing my Falklands land wargame projects in 20mm/1:72 . Quite a few books had been purchased also following geat suggestions from Forum menbers..figures from various manufactures have been recruited both in metal Platoon 20, Combat /Hotpsurs, MJ, Liberation and plastic with my already painted old Matchbox British Paras and some nice ACTA 1970's British kindly given by a great forum menber Harry Faversham...i even purchased costing me an arm and a leg  ;) an Airfix "special edition " Pucara 1:72 kit for Goose Green.....now i only need to fill some gaps with specialised weapons/equipment and some stuff to convert various metal/plastic minis in some  Argentinians specialists for more variation....My prefered stuff seem to be plastics and Platoon 20 (at least for the British)...what i would like to ask you, please, as i discovered that the Forum is the most immediate and expert resource, is your advice on the only two manufactures that i have to discover both Sgt Mess and  Elhiem 20mm Cold War minis and bits :
I got from Sgt Mess some spare small weapons (SLR, GMPS) that are OK and can be used to convert other range's minis but i also already had some Sgt Mess very old WW2 Italians that are very very small..in practice absolutly non compatible, in size,  with plastic minis or other  metal ranges..but what about their Cold War range..being new are they bigger compared to their WW2? could they be compatible with other ranges?
Second question/advice..what about Elhiem?...they have some potentially useful minis for my Falklands project..like for example the Cold War Winter SAS ..and above all a large selection of useful bits like separated heads, Bergen rucksacks ecc....also in this case are they compatible with other plastic/metal same period?
thanks in advance for your help

The elheim work well with the platoon 20 IMO, as for SLRs I used Wartime miniature sets.

cheers

Also have a look at the Under Fire BAOR minis, the current range may have some useful figures and I believe Milan teams are due to be released soon.
