Hi Grimm,
At least I spent about EUR60 compared to the EUR100 that you advised me to budget.  So in a sense, I did "save" some money!

Yeah, but you are right.  All this stuff is so much cheaper in the US.  The shipping really doubles the price of everything we buy from the States.

Yeah but think how inadequate we feel in the States seeing all the beautiful stuff you turn out.

And I feel the money pain when I look at buying miniatures from UK companies and am hit with shipping at the strong Pound vs. the weak dollar.

Given the pounding of the dollar these days, you could probably buy a house in the desert, a house in upstate New York, a big old Buick to drive back and forth between them, and premium mail-delivered beer all for about 350,000 Euros.

For a million Euros, you could buy a town and name it "Grimmsburg."

I hate having a weak dollar.

Hey Pete - what happened to that town in California that put itself up for sale on Ebay?  I think it was 2 years ago?

The town is/was cursed.

The original buyers backed out, and an Internet millionaire picked it up for about a third of the sale value. Then the owner sold it again, and the new owner committed suicide about a year ago. Sale price seems to hover around $1.7 million, but I'm sure you could get a discount for cursed merchandise.

You guys have nothing to complain about. Try living in Australia with the weak Australian dollar and have to buy EVERYTHING internationally.  :(
It is a rich man's or single man's hobby here. (AND I am married with 2 kids!!!!!)

TT.
