SMF Convention Game at San Antonio Convention
« on: March 15, 2019, 07:02:54 PM »
I am running 2 sessions of an SMF game tomorrow at a local convention here in San Antonio if anyone is in the area.  Going to be Avengers vs Xmen.

A few more picks.

The premise of the scenario was that an omega level mutant named Fusion has recently triggered his X-gene mutation. His ability allowed him to detonate himself, but he was very unstable and was a danger to the city. Shield dispatched a team of Avengers to capture him and bring him back into custody. The X-Men also dispatched a team to subdue him and bring him back the X-Mansion so they could help him get control of his mutant powers. Both teams had mutant dmapening devices that only worked on Fusion, they could use them if they got into melee rnage with Fusion and were able to subdue his powers for 2 activations with a succesful melee attack. Every time Fusion activated, he had a 50% chance of detonating, and each time he detonated his blast had a larger radius and did more dice of damage(btw, this was kind of a good mechanic to quicken the end of the game). I had designed it for 6 members on each team, but in this game we played with 4 heroes on each side.

We ended up calling it a draw at the end  with Wolverine at full health, cyclops at less than have health, iron man at full health, and hawkeye close to KO'd (iceman, spiderman, collosus, and capt america were all KO'd).  Fusion had just detonated for the second time and was goimng to escape off the board the next turn.

Yes, it went well.  In the playtests with my boys, it ran us between 1 hour 15 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes, but we played alot of games this past summer so I would label us as fairly experienced with the system.  With the new players it added about 30 minutes, even with 2 less characters per side.  So that was just on me.

But they picked up on the game very quickly(and the younger boy in the pictures I don't think had even played miniatures games before.
