mcfonz's Dark Age adventures with Saga
« on: February 16, 2019, 04:57:59 PM »
So some time ago I wanted to get into some Dark Age gaming and I'm not a 'mass battle' game sort of player.

Saga therefore appealed and just as I was about to buy into that system they announced the new edition. Fast forward a few months and my local club is running some 'cu-down' versions of the game for participation as part of activities for the Norwich Castle museum running alongside their new Viking exhibition.

There is nothing like an event like this to help motivate you into completing some forces. And because everyone else at the club already had vikings, it fell to me and one other to provide Saxons.

And some practice battles in progress:

And some peasants of which one has ended up looking suspiciously like a certain British opposition leader...

My god you're right. The one in the middle could be Arlene Foster's twin....

Other than that, you've done a splendid job. :D

This is the first time I've seen Tanatus miniatures painted up. Very nice! How do they mix with Footsore and GB?

I would say that they scale better with Gripping Beast due to being similar in proportion. But there isn't a massive issue with footsore that I can see either.

The two in this unit standing with upright spears are Footsore, the rest are Tanatus.

This image is of the Footsore King of East Anglia and four Tanatus Saxon warriors (which I converted using plastic Gripping Beast spare arms and weapons).

I also have this little gem from a review I did a while ago:
