Red on Blue In Nottingham (ROBIN) 2019 Show Photo Recce
« on: February 17, 2019, 04:57:07 PM »
Today was the small, but perfectly formed Red On Blue In Nottingham (ROBIN) wargaming show. I went along with my chums and have produced a photo report on my blog (with accompanying slideshow on Youtube). Check them both here:

small, but perfectly formed

That's what I tell the wife too, man.

"the quickly growing Red On Blue In Nottingham (ROBIN)."

Unfortunately growing too quickly.... more traders, less advertising, less/same number through the door means the show is untenable.

Maybe, it is quite close to Vapnartak. But shows need some time to bed in as well, so it's still early days.

Maybe, it is quite close to Vapnartak. But shows need some time to bed in as well, so it's still early days.

It's slap bang in the middle of Vapa and Hammerhead  (Only 20 miles down the road in 2 weeks time) - both well established shows.

It's in the middle of the month - between paydays - when, as now, times are hard, there is less cash to spend.

Traders pay for the venue. If they lose money - as most did today - they simply can't afford to give an event time to bed in. No traders, no event. Simple.

If ROBIN is to continue it has to make some important decisions.

The date has to change.

They mustn't increase the trader numbers for at least a couple of years.

They must advertise.  And advertise and advertise some more. And then a bit more for luck.

Work to get more (and 'better') games to keep people there - after midday the event was dead.

I'm sorry to sound so negative but just being realistic :/

It's a shame as Nottingham should have a kick ass show, because... Nottingham!

Has anyone pitched the idea of moving it to the date of Derby Worlds? (RIP, that was always a dead cert for substantial takings  :'( )

Partizan is moving to October next year so no it's not a good idea. How about moving it to somewhere around the time of the now unfortunately defunct Cannon show instead, or August next year seeing as The Other Partizan is dropping back by 2 months? I was going to go to ROBIN this year for the first time but it's too near Hammerhead for my liking. Vapnartak is a victim of it's own success and becoming too crowded IMO. April you have Salute so that month is out, no one will have any money left, May it's Partizan just down the road, and then you're into the holiday months.
