Galactic Heroes for Traveller - Zhodani Customs Inspectors
« on: February 21, 2019, 03:43:39 PM »
I've started working on the game I will be hosting at Kublacon in May this year. I want to run a Traveller RPG style boarding action using the Galactic Heroes rules.

The game will have room for six players. Each player will run a crew of approximately 5 figures. There will be three crews made up of Zhodani boarders and three crews of Imperial defenders. In addition to the crews each side will have some help from small bands of Grunts. The Grunts will become available to player crews through a variety of ways, mostly random.

For the Zhodani I did six three-man teams of Grunts. I used miniatures from the Sedition Wars game.

For Imperial troops in Battle Dress I'm using Hasslefree's Five-Eight miniatures

For the ship's decks I took my pdf copy of GDW's Azhanti High Lightning game and blew the maps up to scale with 28mm figures to use as a guide. My goal is to have six decks available for play. Each player's crew, whether they be part of the Zhodani boarding party or the Imperial crew will have primary and secondary objectives that will require them to move from deck to deck to perform a few skill tasks while staying alive.

Eventually I'll have lasercut floors and bulkheads to replace the printed maps.

There are more work in progress pictures of various parts of the game's progress on my blog.

Very cool! I'm also planning on using GH at conventions for Traveller, would love to see how you've statted things up, particularly if you've matched up weapons and/or aliens.

Why or why does it have to take place over Memorial Day weekend?

We have a con over Labor Day weekend as well that I usually get to. Barring that if you're ever out this way, let me know and we'll set something up.

Looks very interesting.   Nice choice of miniatures.  Tempting me to commit to Kublacon.   I will be running a pair of Galactic Heroes games at Conquest Sacramento in March.   The Miniature Wargaming Society of Sacramento has also had some Galactic Heroes games at the club meetings.

Very nice project idea.  I haven't seen those deck plans in many, many years.  Glad to see the AHL back in action.

I put together a four figures for the Zhodani crews. I used the new Necromunda van Saar miniatures with a head swap from a Dark Eldar Wytche. I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. I've got more heads coming this week in the mail so I'll be able to put together the other 6 van Saar.

I also got some paint on to some of the terrain for the interior of the starship.

These are made from a Mantic Terrain crate piece, an old Armorcast bit and part of a Sherman hull.

Wow, I never heard about Azhanti High Lightning, seems to be very crunchy with all the weapon range tables and whatnot. Typical for the era, I guess!  8)

I think some of Warlords Antares figures could be useful for your game. Without head swaps or some of these things. For the Starship interior Northstar is selling the rest of the Copplestone KKBB - Interior. Great stuff.

Worldworks Games has several sets of spaceship interiors - Celestus Pravatis, First light, and ShadowCore  These are PDF files that you print on cardstock and assemble.  http://www.worldworksgames.com/store/index.php?view=catalog&genre_id=3
