Old Scores, the story in pictures...
« on: February 21, 2019, 04:04:43 PM »
The new Frostgrave book The Wizards' Conclave is out this month, and I've contributed to it by writing one of the scenarios, called Old Scores.

I had got Mr Cubbin to paint a warband especially for it, and now the book is out Kev said 'lets run though it and take pictures, and I'll do a comic strip type AAR.'

You can have a read through here: http://nstarmagazine.com/FROSTGRAVE_CONCLAVE_OLD_SCORES.htm but if you intend to play it, don't.  lol Save it for afterwards.

Hey, I remember them! I did wonder why you were so specific about the members of the warband and who was equipped with what.
'Sir John ejaculated explosively, sitting up in his chair.' ... 'The Black Gang'.

that is just fantastic (have d/loaded the pdf which looks best).

seriously - some of the best figure painting, and best presented (lovely photography too) I've seen.

those dark, chiaroscuro ( ;) ) tones - and the faces - amazing.
even that extreme enlargement of the eye-patch figure's face - it still looks 'natural' - in a painterly way. Quite something.

I think more of this kind of thing (and for GA too) would be great - and including them in the books too.

Very good (aided by the well painted miniatures).

The wizard's party is all the work of Mr Cubbin. I gave him some direction like the twins and & the one-eyed crossbowman, but all the colours are 100% himself. Well done Old Boy.

The gribblies are all painted by Kev Dallimore.
